Presentation

The conference Plasticité has been the annual meeting place for the national community of researchers interested in the physical processes governing the plastic deformation of materials for more than 50 years. The studies presented concern all types of materials: metallic materials (steels, super-alloys, light alloys, high entropy alloys, etc.), ceramic materials, semi-conductors and glasses, but also new materials (composites, granular materials, nano-structured materials, polymers, foams, eco-materials, etc.). This field of research also extends over multiple scales: from the nanometric scale, with the study of the elementary mechanisms of plasticity, to the macroscopic scale, with the laws of mechanical behavior of materials. These themes are covered by both experimental and numerical approaches.

The participants, between 70 and 120 depending on the year, include a large number of young researchers and doctoral students. The conference Plasticité is an opportunity for them to “learn their first weapons” in front of an assembly of specialists. It is an event during which contacts are made and where networks of collaboration are woven. Moreover, even if the conference Plasticité is a national event, our foreign colleagues, who regularly attend, are very welcome.

The objectives of the symposium are obviously to contribute to the sharing and discussion of recent concepts and results around plasticity. It is for the community of researchers interested in plasticity a regular opportunity to meet to promote the exchange of ideas and the emergence of innovative themes. On the other hand, the Plasticity symposium plays a major role in the training of young researchers, in exchanges between teams and in the renewal of national teams. It is for doctoral students at the end of their thesis an opportunity to make themselves known and thus to prepare for the post-thesis.
